The Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club hosted the RS Northern Championships last weekend
with 31 boats on the race course in Feva, 200 & 400 classes.
RSGYC Feva sailors arrived to a warm welcome from RNIYC members last Friday night. Saturday & Sunday were both pretty windy which caused some difficulty for Elysia O’Leary & Lorcan Little who are a bit light for the Feva so they switched to the dacron main sail for Sunday. Racing was very close with Marcus O’Leary & Oscar Lubliner trading first & second places with the Donnelly brothers from Malahide all through to the last race, during which Marcus’s boat suffered a jammed spinnaker. 2nd & 3rd place for the RSGYC Fevas was a fine result, however more importantly & typically for the class the kids had great fun sailing interesting boats and making new friends in a beautiful location.
The next RS Feva event is the Southern Championships being hosted at the Royal Cork Yacht Club on 1st & 2nd July.
