The Plan

The aim of fun week in the Royal St George this summer is too give children an taste of some of the more fun aspects of sailing and the summer courses. It also increases water confidence for those who haven’t had much time on the water or maybe a scare in the past.  We have a range of activities planned to suit kids of all levels of water competence.

To begin

We start the week with some introductions, so we can learn everyone’s names and the kids can learn a bit about our instructors. After we’ve all gotten to know each other. We’ll head out onto the water to have some fun. The club has a range thing for us to use, there is kayaks, boats we can pile them into and 6 new stand up paddle boards. Then the afternoon will be spent building rafts. The rafts come into play later in the week.

For Tuesday

A trip to either Howth or Greystones (wind dependant) planned, we leave in the morning sailing 1720s, which is a small sports yacht. So bring some money for arguably two of the best places in the country to get fish and chips.

For Wednesday

We thought we’d take a break from the water and go rock climbing. Trinity climbing wall is only a short dart trip away and is more than happy to take a rowdy bunch of sailors to try something new. Then we return to the club to race our carefully constructed rafts, winner is the one who falls apart last.

Adventure anyone?

Thursday is set to be a bit of an adventure. We set a course for the uncharted territory off the coast of Dalkey known as Dalkey island. We will explore ancient ruins. Encounter untamed wildlife like seals and goats, as well as a rabbit warren that spans the whole of Ireland. On the island we will be Scavenging for survival and Hunting lost treasures.

And the wrap up

We wrap up the week with some final water fun, a cake day and a prestigious award ceremony. And with the current heat wave forecast we’re looking at a week of fun like no other. So please join us, we look forward to having you.
