We endeavor to accommodate sailors for individual weeks subject to available space on the requested week. Irish Sailing modules (Levels) cannot be awarded unless sailors are signed off on all areas relevant to the module sailors wish to obtain.
It is strongly recommended that sailors aim to complete a full course so as to allow the necessary time on the water and ashore for theory to successfully obtain the requested module.
* ALL COURSES INCLUDE LUNCH
Please click on the links above to learn more about the courses on offer and which might suit your sailor.
Start Sailing through Improving Skills courses (Level 1 – 3) will feature a greater variety of boats, with the opportunity to try 1720 Keelboat sailing as well as the possibility of sailing some even bigger boats.
The emphasis remains on improving the Sailors ability. People, and especially children, learn at different rates and should not be made feel inferior because of that. No one should “Fail” their holidays and that is the attitude we intend to run with for the summer.
We plan to run Start Sailing, Basic Skills, and Improving Skills modules throughout each course this summer subject to demand. The Advanced Boat Handling module will be run during course C, Start Racing during A, B and D, and the Adventure course during course C.
During the summer, we continue to run with class-specific coaching clinics to improve racing and sailing skills.
These clinics are open to all who have completed their Improving skills IS qualification and will run throughout the summer in conjunction with their summer sailing courses.
The clinics will provide expert coaching staff to prepare junior sailors for Regional, National, and International events.
It is our intention to run Pre-Entry Training during the summer as part of preparing young adults for the pre-entry examination which we will run within the club and by other IS trainers.
Subject to demand we will also be offering VHF, First Aid, and Powerboat Training so that future instructors can complete all of their pre-requisites over their summer holidays.
Our focus this summer as always is to improve junior’s skills and qualifications on the water, but the most important part of the summer is to have fun.
Over the years, the Royal St. George Yacht Club has been delivering fun-filled courses to thousands of children.
Team George Racing
The Team George Racing Program will continue and grow over the summer, allowing us to bring quality teams of sailors and coaches to Regional, National, and International events.
Nutrition
Again this year we would like to announce Lunch is included into the sailing course fees. We feel that doing this will allow us to provide our young sailors with the best quality food at an affordable price. If anyone has any recipe suggestions we’d love to hear them! Please do not forget to mention food allergies or special requirements.
Lockers 2019
Again this summer we will offer secure lockers in the Changing Rooms for the duration of each course. This will allow sailors to keep their gear and valuables locked securely as required for the duration of their sailing courses.
Access Cards 2019
Access cards are available for the sailors which allow them into the Club through the main gate and into the changing rooms. These are a €20 deposit which will be refunded once the card is returned.
There will be a parent’s information evening in advance of the start of the courses that we encourage all parents to attend.
Sincerely,
The Royal St George Yacht Club Junior Committee
