It has been a long time coming but thankfully we are now able to get our youngest sailors back afloat under the current restrictions and with Irish Sailing’s approval. While adults cannot partake in any formal sailing training, sailors of ‘school going age’ are permitted to sail under Level 5.
We have updated our Sea Squirts & Tigers program to reflect the time of year and designed it so that it can take place no matter what the weather is. We have added a fleet of Club optimists to the program with all new ‘mini- rigs’ that even have cushioning on the booms! With the reduced sail area and lack of a sprit, the Squirts & Tigers will have a fun afloat in a safe and comfortable manner
Sessions in November will be 1hr long with high ratios of instructors to sailors to ensure individual attention and expert guidance to the new sailors.

2020 November Sessions
For those who have sailed with us over the last few years you know the drill – for those joining us this year, here is the score.
Squirts (6- 8 years of age) 09:30-10:30 dressed and ready each Sunday
Tigers (8- 10 years of age) 11:00-12:00 dressed and ready each Sunday
- Objective: fun introduction to sailing, sea and making friends at the Royal St George Y.C.
- Required: wetsuit (full), life jacket and suitable foot and head wear – a cag or waterproof coat too.
- Membership: children must have a parent or grandparent as a club member.
- Sessions will run on Sunday mornings in November in most weather conditions.
- Frequency: the key to learning sailing and water skills is the frequency not intensity of learning. Squirts and Tigers does not substitute a Summer Sailing course but compliments it perfectly by building confidence slowly and surely.
Don’t have a boat? No problem, we provide the boats!
Our philosophy is all about giving your child a love of the sea and sailing, while making friends in a fun environment. All the instructors are chosen because of their ability to connect with the kids and ensure learning in a fun / low pressure environment.
Volunteers
Sea Squirts is run on 100% volunteer basis and if you can support us, we would love your help. At our first Sunday morning we can have a coffee and chat with the parents and share out the tasks.
RSGYC Coffee dock will be open for parents to also meet and make new friends.
Booking
You can book as many or as little Sundays as you like. IF YOU HAVEN’T BOOKED, we will not be able to take your child sailing as we will have no waiver or proper contact details.
We look forward to meeting you again this year and to our Sea Squirts and Tigers having a brilliant season of fun, friendship, and sailing.
Please be advised: There will be no refund/s issued for missed sessions.
