As you may be aware, we will be proudly part of the largest regatta in Ireland next week, the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta. The George is known to provide the warmest welcome and the best parties… in addition to excellence in sailing of course.
In order to facilitate the entertainment that is scheduled, the competitors, their boats and the huge numbers of people we will be welcoming to the Club we must clear the forecourt of all boats that are not competing in the regatta. And of course, to avoid any revellers dancing on your boat. Those dinghies in racks such as Waszps, Oppies and racked ILCA’s do not need to be moved, although there will be no access to them from Tuesday next until Monday 10th of July).
Thankfully, we are not asking you to take your boat home, as we have secured space on the Carlisle Pier from Tuesday next the 4th of July until the following Monday the 10th of July. We would like you if possible, to move your boat to the Carlisle Pier next Tuesday anytime during the day or evening. If you are sailing on Tuesday evening, we ask that you relocate your boat after sailing, the same for the Water Wag sailors sailing on Wednesday evening. We will have our ‘bridge’ from under our large crane onto the Carlisle Pier in place, so it is only a 2-minute walk with your boat across.
If you cannot move your boat, please let us know and it will be moved over on Tuesday morning and returned on the Monday after the regatta.
We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding with facilitating this flagship regatta that we are proud to host and will look forward to seeing you down at your club during the regatta.
In summary
All boats not racked or entered in to the VDLR are required to be moved from the Club deck away or to the Carlisle Pier on Tuesday next, Wednesday if you are a Water Wag sailor.
Please contact us if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you.
